Military Technical Cooperation

The Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Government of the Russian Federation taking into consideration development of the existing friendly relations between two countries based on the principles of sovereignty, equality of rights, mutual respect of the interests and non-interference in internal affairs , acknowledging the development of relations  and contributing to improve mutual understanding and confidence  signed an agreement on Military Technical Cooperation on 30 January 2004 in Colombo. Further, a Military/ Defence Cooperation agreement was signed on 03 September 2018 to facilitate cooperation in the following areas:

1. Official visits of delegations
2. Participation in military exercises
3. Working meetings
4. Participation in theoretical and practical training courses, seminars and conferences
5. Education and military personnel training
6. Warships port calls and military aircraft visits
7. Cooperation in Search and Rescue at sea
8. Interaction in counter-piracy activities
9. Conduct of cultural and sports events
